The Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce plays a strong part in the growth and economy of the community. We prefer to call our members investors or partners - because of the volunteer dollar commitment which has been made them in order for us to operate community-minded programs for the good of the area.The Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce is a not for profit business organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as such under IRS code number 501c(6).
Structured like a business...(in fact, the Chamber is a business), the Chamber is governed by an elected 15 member Board of Directors representing the views of our members as an investor/partner. The Board meets once a month. The Chamber operates on a full-time business day schedule with two staff members to provide service.
Each Year, the Chamber's Board of Directors meet in an organized planning session to develop goals and objectives for the coming Chamber year. The session ends with a compilation of suggestions and ideas to form the Chamber's business plan called the Program of Work. The Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce operates on a fiscal year - October 1 through September 30.
In the Program of Work, there are four divisions which are geared for the effective running of the Chamber and also notes meaningful programs or projects, for the area. The four divisions include Organizational Development, Membership Development, Economic Development and Special Projects.
